El Cid, I come back here 6 years later cause I still remember this animation so well. I'm truly grateful that you made it.

There's this philosopher that implied we are "saved" from the meaninglessness of things by way of creative works, something for which we can look back on what we created and take solace in it, and say, "There, that was it. That was the day it all started." I hope this is that for you.

El-Cid responds:

Totally. :)

On par with Brackenwood with fewer artistic assets

This movie manages to convey a lot of mystery and wonder. In that, it reminds me of the earlier Brackenwood films, as well as the Hitchhiker series, also by Adam Phillips.

Interesting things to note: It uses music sparingly; it presents a bunch of characters and settings without, seemingly, any intention of an overarching theme or narrative. We get the feeling that we're being presented with some kind of naturally-occurring, everyday scene in a strange world, like this is a fishbowl and we're looking at the fish inside it interact with the little miniature sunken ships and divers.

That seems to be the point of it, in fact, and that is not something I mind. It's a fun and interesting diversion; I hope that potential for piquing interest continues in later games.

exotworking responds:

Brackenwood, especially the first 3 films, were a great inspiration for me. Thanks for your enthusiastic review!

Very funny indeed

I have a question I would hope could be answered: does the man known as Chris Voigt actually believe he's a bitter old man suckling at his proud nation's welfare teat (or at least being some kind of drag on society) or does he believe that what he's doing (as an animator, as a humorist) count as something truly worthwhile to do for people? Is he satisfied that he is doing with his life something good enough, having chosen what he's chosen?

If I could have that question answered, I would love the man known as Chris Voigt forever. It would help someone who's wondering what to do with their lives.

Anyway, I think this movie is great and so are all these other movies like Pleasure Island and Angry Dog. I have to admit I would like to see more of them.

Sexual-Lobster responds:

woah that's a deep question.

my goal is to work as an animator doing what i enjoy. i hope in the future to make animation that will generate revenue for those involved and justify its existence commercially. not created solely to earn money of course but paying for itself. to that end i've gone to uni to learn the craft and that's where i'm up to. since leaving uni i have done 5 weeks of freelance animation work, and about the same amount of time having no work except my casual job, so i'm scoring 50% so far.

Not terrible at all

Reminds me of a certain Adam Sandler movie called "Click", though...

"Also, to all you guys claiming the movie has no ending... it does. Know that part where the movie stops and the replay button appears? That's the end. The story has an intentionally ambiguous conclusion that is meant to inspire personal interpretation and conversation. Any more traditional ending I could've included would've robbed the viewer of the opportunity to really think about the movie's message. Thanks for watching!"

To those reading this who remember "Click": was that multi-million-budgeted movie itself something substantive and original enough to deserve conversation and interpretation? How about this flash?

spanio responds:

Nothing with Adam Sandler (with the exception of the excellent James L. Brooks movie, Spanglish) is worthy of serious conversation or interpretation. Thanks for watching!

Lol

The look and especially the sounds of an old-=style movie were implemented in there well. Set a standard for 20's movie impressions. Amplified the effect of the joke. Made me laugh. It was good.

One question: was the visual crackling looped and overdone for irony's sake? If so, then good idea.

Topcatyo responds:

Thanks, I'm glad to hear it :)
As for the visual crackling loop, yeah, done for irony, and for the fact that it's a part of every single silent film stereotype people see.

So this is how to match Adam Phillips

Jay, you have quite a mastery of surface, craft, structure, and idiom, as far as I can tell. You shouldn't worry about the sound: it _works_.

Check your PM inbox, will you? I wanted to ask you a question.

StupidDream responds:

No problem, I'll check any message someone sends me. Unless it's from a customer support e-mail, where usually I just complain to no end about not being able to use a product, and in between waiting for the response e-mail I figure it out on my own. Patience plays a big part in figuring stuff out.

Graphics skill are necessaly!

Listen to the original, 99 Luftballoons, from GTA:VC. Much better. Then make an awesome video to go along with it that you will have worked bery hard on (Adam Phillips quality, I mean). Then you will get the awards.

Organclock responds:

do you know where i can download it... i dont have limewire

Very good.

MaxR responds:

Shinkdog responds:
